    Privacy policy

    Personal data are processed through Crawler Insights. Crawler Insights places great importance on handling personal data with care. We therefore take care when processing and securing personal data.

    Our processing operations meet the requirements of privacy legislation. Among other things this means that:

    • We clearly state the purposes for which we process personal data. We do so in this privacy statement;
    • We only collect the personal data that are needed for legitimate purposes;
    • We first ask for your consent to the processing of your personal data in cases where your consent is required;
    • We take appropriate security measures to protect your personal data and also require this of parties who process personal data on our instructions;
    • We respect your privacy rights including your right to access correct or delete data.

    Crawler Insights is (in part) the controller for the data processing and (in part) the processor for its customers. In this privacy statement we explain the types of personal data we collect and use and the purposes for which we do so. We recommend that you read it carefully.

    1. Crawler Insights as the processor

    Crawler Insights offers its platform to its customers as a processor. This means that we only collect information if our customer has instructed us to obtain information about its website visitors. Our customer is then the controller of the personal data thus obtained.

    Our customers’ responsibilities

    Our customers are the controllers of the personal data obtained via our platform and as such they should inform data subjects of the source of their personal data. In addition they must have a legal basis for this. We recommend that our customers take note of the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) as well as other applicable laws and regulations such as the ban on spam under the Dutch Telecommunications Act (Telecommunicatiewet)/ePrivacy Directive.

    Cookies and browser/device fingerprinting

    To find out what website visitors are interested in our customers can choose to make recordings using cookies or browser/device fingerprinting. Our customers are themselves responsible for requesting consent for this.

    2. Crawler Insights as the controller for search techniques and its own database

    We are the controller as regards compiling company profiles of visitors to our customers’ websites. We decide ourselves how to make these profiles as complete as possible and we have built our own database for this purpose based on IP addresses. Our sources are for the most part publicly available databases which include company data and IP addresses. We focus on company profiles. These may include names contact details and job titles of employees and directors. If we suspect that an IP address belongs to a consumer or other non-business visitor we remove it and do not continue to build a profile from it. Nor do we attempt to show end users any data of self-employed workers.

    We create these profiles based on our legitimate interest which is the commercial interest we have in showing our customers the most complete company profiles possible. We only index publicly available information which has been published for commercial purposes. We only collect data that create added value for our customers. We do not collect sensitive or special personal data. Of course we process these personal data using appropriate safeguards to reduce or eliminate privacy risks as much as possible. Feel free to contact us if you would like more information about the specific measures we have taken. Naturally you can also contact us if you want to object to this processing of your personal data. To do so click on the ‘opt-out’ button in the footer of our website or contact us using the contact details at the bottom of this privacy and cookie statement. If you do object we will delete your data and not collect them again.

    3. Crawler Insights as the controller for other purposes
